Product Engineering: Vehicle Programmes Undergraduate

Job description

Your placement year at university could not have come at a more exciting time.

An undergraduate scheme at JLR is specifically designed to prepare you for a successful, long-term career with us. Surrounded by an innovative and dedicated team of industry experts, you’ll apply your learning and satisfy your curiosity for what’s possible.

Arrive curious. Discover opportunity.

Vehicle Programmes Undergraduate Programme

Vehicle Programmes offers a truly cross-functional experience, through product strategy, programme management, business performance, cross-carline and commodity strategy and programme purchasing.

You will use your innovation and creativity to the full every day, as you develop all the skills for a fast-moving career. With ongoing support from industry-leading experts, backed by continual learning opportunities, you’ll quickly realise that our programmes are as inspiring as the vehicles you’ll help to create.

You will initially be assigned into one of two key areas of Vehicle Programmes. Along the way, you will gain a customer-centric view of satisfying evolving needs and accelerating delivery to reduce time-to-market, using agile principles to transform the way we think and work.

Programme Management

This team’s purpose is to integrate the enterprise to deliver commercially successful products on time and to quality standards, which fulfil our brand and customer promise throughout their lifecycles. As such, we work with all areas across JLR to realise our product programmes, which provides you with great exposure to the business.

Business Performance

Business Performance optimises our vehicles’ profitability and ensures that they remain highly competitive in a rapidly evolving marketplace. To make this happen, you will identify growth opportunities, support risk mitigation actions and improve our vehicles’ margins, using data insights to develop focused plans addressing a balanced mix of market, revenue and cost opportunities.

Rewards and benefits

Our 2024 undergraduate programme salary will be £21,377. You’ll also enjoy a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

You will be applying your curiosity and creativity every day as you begin to hone your skills for a successful, impactful career. You own your development, and only you can make it happen. We’ll be right by your side in your pursuit of exceptional, and we’ll give you all the encouragement and support you need.

What we are looking for

You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in a science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM) discipline, business or management.

In addition, you will have real passion for problem-solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study or on an integrated master’s after their placement with us).
