About the programme
Join us, and you'll gain hands-on experience that will give you an excellent understanding of the industry. Our welcoming design office is where you'll team up with experienced professionals, soaking up their knowledge and benefiting from their guidance.
Here's what you'll get up to:
- Assisting with scoping calculations and diving into supporting analysis.
- Crafting detailed models and drawings that bring ideas to life.
- Producing design-based documentation and technical reports that resonate with our clients.
You'll also get the chance to explore different parts of our business through varied placements, ensuring you get a full picture of what we do.
Once you've completed the apprenticeship, you'll be well-positioned to take on roles within our design team, with a wealth of experience and a network of colleagues to support your future growth and opportunities.
What you’ll need
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English and Science, with Maths at grade 5 (B) or above.
- 3 A Levels in related subjects or an equivalent Level 3 qualification like a BTEC.
- Experience in design technology or CAD is desirable.
- A genuine interest in CAD design and a positive attitude.
Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.

Training
You’ll receive practical and theoretical training, combined with company-specific training given in the workplace.
At Wigan & Leigh College, you'll work towards the Level 5 Nuclear Technician (Elec) Apprenticeship, preparing you for a successful career in the nuclear sector.
