Funding your study
Funding for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is available both from the University and from a number of external schemes. Scholarships, Bursaries and Studentships offered by the University are normally awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are usually for the duration of the period of study.
Career development
Our Career Central team located on campus actively strives to equip Postgraduate students with the skills necessary to succeed in whichever employment field they choose. Our Advisers will provide impartial information, advice and guidance, helping students to understand themselves and the employment market and to develop suitable career-related skills and knowledge.
All students undertaking research will also be able to take part in events from a wide-ranging network of Research Centres and partner institutes across UEA.
Learning resources and facilities
Our Postgraduate students have access to a wide range of resources and facilities to assist their studies. Our network of professional Student Services offers information, advice, practical help and specialist resources to enable all students to take full advantage of the opportunities offered at postgraduate level.
The University's Library is open 24/7 throughout the year. Facilities include more than 800,000 volumes of books and journals, a range of electronic resources including major bibliographic and citation databases, an extensive audio-visual collection, and an inter-lending and document supply service. IT facilities include a 24-hour access area in the Library, IT hubs across campus, a high-speed network connecting the whole University campus and a wireless network for laptop and mobile access.
Our Language Learning support also provides students with the opportunity to learn to speak another language, with classes from beginner to advanced levels. Languages offered include Arabic, British Sign Language, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Italian, Russian and Spanish.
Specialist facilities also include purpose-built, state-of-the-art scientific laboratories, psychology research pods and observation suites, drama and electro-acoustic music studios, telecommunications suites and resources to facilitate purpose-led clinical trials, investigative experiments, analysis and modelling.
The University Campus
The University is located in a spacious campus with outstanding facilities including the multi-million Sportspark which includes an Oympic-sized swimming pool, fitness centre, athletics track and climbing wall as well as the world famous Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
The University’s prestigious literary festival which takes place every year has included famous names such as Ian McEwan and Kazuo Ishiguro (both Alumni of UEA's Creative Writing course)
International postgraduates new to the University are guaranteed accommodation in their first year, provided that they meet the certain requirements. All rooms are fully furnished and grouped round a shared kitchen. Accommodation is self-catering, but if you feel like a change from cooking for yourself, there are plenty of places to eat and drink on campus.
Norwich - the perfect location
A friendly, easy-going, and safe place to live, the bustling centre of Norwich is just a few minutes by bus from the University.
Norwich has all the characteristics of a 'university city'. A major commercial and thriving cultural centre, it is steeped in history and retains its distinctive character. The city boasts a vibrant blend of independent stores, small specialist shops, major high street chains and the country's largest six-day open-air market, set amidst a maze of pretty medieval cobble-stoned lanes and alleys. It also has good bus and rail connections to the rest of the UK and having its own airport ensures easy access to the Continent.
