The School is a powerhouse of research and innovation, and exclusively a postgraduate learning environment. Working across the thematic areas of Water, Energy, Environment and Agrifood, and Design our education and research programmes address some of the major environmental and sustainability challenges facing society and the planet today. Our work ranges from reversing climate change and biodiversity loss and underpinning global food security, to achieving net zero, providing energy security and addressing energy poverty, and from delivering resilient water resources to enabling sustainable and regenerative agriculture.

Our expertise is world-renowned for both the engineering and management of energy solutions. Our research is making a difference in the sector: from increasingly efficient oil platforms to the cutting edge of renewable energy technologies. Our expertise is supported by unique industrial scale experimental facilities across many different kinds of energy systems and our students get to put their learning into practice.
Environment and Agrifood
For 50 years, Cranfield has been contributing to enhancing natural capital and ensuring that global food systems are more resilient for the future. We are recognised worldwide by industry, government and academe for our research and teaching in plants, soil, water and air. Our near-industrial scale research facilities are unparalleled and our postgraduate courses give the leaders of the future the skills and vocational experience they need to make a difference.
Studying at Cranfield's Centre for Design Engineering means working closely with our partners in industry, government or the NGO sector. Commercially relevant, our postgraduate courses are directed through an Industry Advisory Panel that ensures the content is relevant to employer requirements. Our Design courses offer advanced knowledge and practical experience for our students to take into a wealth of design employment opportunities.

Future career prospects
Our courses are closely aligned with industry to ensure everything taught on our courses is relevant, timely and meets the needs of organisations, making our graduates some of the most desirable in the world. At Cranfield we have a very high employment rate of 92%* for our School, so successful graduates are expected to move swiftly into positions within industry, government, NGOs, research companies and institutes. We also offer our alumni a lifelong continuation service for their career development. Our Careers and Employability Service plays a pivotal networking role across the University, working closely with students, staff and potential employers to enhance student employability skills and their career opportunities. Students will have access to career coaching and advice, CV development, interview practice, access to hundreds of available jobs via our Symplicity platform and opportunities to meet recruiting employers at our careers fairs. We will also work with you to identify suitable opportunities and support you in the job application process for up to three years after graduation.
Location
Cranfield University campus is 40 minutes away from central London by train, with nearest towns being Milton Keynes and Bedford. London Luton airport is the closest to the University, while Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted are all easily accessible via train and coach.
Accommodation
We offer both catered and self-catered on campus accommodation, from halls of residence to shared houses, apartments for couples to houses for families.
