Early Careers Programme

Our Early Careers programmes are targeted at young people aged 16-24, inspiring the next generation of talent to make a career in Retail their preferred choice. We cover a range of initiatives including short-term work experience, 12-month student placements, Traineeships, Apprenticeships, alongside entry-level and graduate roles. Talent is quickly spotted and nurtured, and there are lots of opportunities to tailor-make your career.

Student Placements

Our 12-month placements, suitable for those on a four-year university course, give students the chance to work in our Trading & Support teams, getting hands on in the day to day running of our business. Students could be involved in anything from developing exciting product ranges that deliver amazing value, to playing a part in shaping the future of our IT infrastructure. With a dedicated on-boarding & training programme, our students are emersed in the business area they are placed in, and their opinions really count, something we feel sets us apart from other brands.

Apprenticeships

Our ‘Credible Alternative to University’ scheme, launched in 2021, is very close to our hearts, offering young people the opportunity to study whilst developing a career in a variety of areas such as Buying & Merchandising, Finance, HR, Customer Services & Marketing. The success of this scheme has led to most of our apprentices being offered full time contracts and promotions within their first 12 months of employment, and us ranking as 35th in the Rate My Apprenticeship Top 100 Employers 2022-2023, an achievement we’re extremely proud of.

We believe that every young person should have access to the same opportunities, and we hope that our involvement in the Apprentice Ambassador Network will drive more young people to consider apprenticeships as a viable next step after their formal education ends.
