Future career prospects:
At Goldsmiths we nurture creative talent and enquiring minds. Whether you have a clear idea of what you want to do, or you’re open to the unexpected opportunities that a postgraduate degree might present, we’re here to support you in taking your next steps towards an exciting career.
In the most recent Graduate Outcomes Survey (2017-18), 90% of our postgraduate students go into work or further study after they graduate.
Goldsmiths Careers Service
The Careers Service provides professional careers advice, and is somewhere you can access support including appointments with dedicated careers consultants, CV checks, and practice interviews. There are also resources where you can search for jobs and internship opportunities.
Industry links
There are regular careers fairs, networking events and industry panels where you can hear from professionals working in sectors like publishing, the media, charities and NGOs, and the arts. Many Goldsmiths graduates return to take part in these industry events and give their insights into working life.
Work placements
Not only do placements help you develop skills and gain experience, they’re also great for helping you build a network of useful contacts. Some of our degrees offer the possibility of an integrated work placement, and you can also access placements through the Careers Service. Students have recently completed placements at the Barbican, British Council, Google and The Wall Street Journal.
Enterprise support
Goldsmiths has recently launched the NX Hub with the aim of building a local community of entrepreneurs and support business start-up and growth (including for our students). NX Hub is currently taking a digital-first approach with a range of online workshops and events but will continue to develop new initiatives to support our students who are entrepreneurially minded.
English language support
If English isn’t your first language, we have a wide range of programmes to help you succeed in academic writing.
Facilities and support arrangements
The vast majority of our learning facilities are on our single-site campus, so you don’t have to travel far to access them. They include a Library that’s open 24/7 nearly every day of the year, as well as departmental facilities like workshops, studio space and a theatre. Being a part of the University of London means you’ll also be able to make use of all the additional resources that offers.
Fees, funding and costs
You can learn more about the programme fees by visiting our website.
There is a range of funding support available through postgraduate scholarships and bursaries. You can find out more about these by using our online scholarships finder.
You may also be eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Masters Loan.
Location
Goldsmiths is in New Cross, which is in London’s zone two. It’s less than 10 minutes by train to Central London and East London, so you’re close to all the world-renowned museums, theatres, galleries and music venues it holds.
London is a special place. A hub for industry, politics, and the arts. A melting pot of creativity and culture. Somewhere that will inspire you, and connect you to Europe and the wider world.
One massive advantage to studying in London is the access it can give you to the centre of business and the creative industries in the UK and beyond. Whether you’re interested in working in politics, the media, an NGO or the arts, living in the capital brings you closer to the large organisations that influence Britain and the world.
Culture
Cultural life is very rich in London, and you could be seeing new plays, visiting art galleries and watching performance poetry every day if you had the energy. If your funds are low there are many places to access for free - from the science museum and V&A in Kensington, to the two Tate galleries on the Thames, and from Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery in Vauxhall to the Southbank Centre in Waterloo.
Accommodation
There are around 1,500 places available in halls of residence, some of which are in walking distance of the campus, while others are a short ride away on public transport.
