I completed an MSc in Supply Chain and Logistics Management from the University of Strathclyde in 2021 after completing a bachelor’s degree in business management in 2020. I joined Chivas Brothers as a Manufacturing Operations Graduate, and I am currently on placement within the Continuous Improvement Department where I am focusing on warehousing and supply chain projects. My next placements will be within Supply Chain, the bottling hall and I will also be spending time at Absolut Vodka in Sweden. The operations graduate scheme has given me great insight and knowledge of a fascinating industry and has allowed me to develop key skills including leadership, teamwork, and confidence.

I completed my integrated master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Aberdeen in May 2020 and was looking for a varied, expansive, and exciting graduate opportunity as a Chemical Engineer. The Chivas Brothers Operations Graduate Scheme offered not only technical engineering challenges but opportunities across the company including within bulk operations where I work within our distillery sites. From the outset I have been involved in various projects that are ongoing in Chivas Brothers northern operations. During my time on the operations graduate scheme, I have visited our distilleries and been able to meet the teams that run them whilst being directly involved in exciting and innovative projects.

All of this will be underpinned with a comprehensive training and development programme:

• You will be primarily based in Central Scotland (Dumbarton/Dalmuir) but there will be exposure to our other sites in Speyside, Glasgow and Ayrshire.
• We’re looking for graduates who are confident and self-assured in their abilities. A positive, entrepreneurial and enthusiastic attitude is essential.
• Management.
• We accept degrees of a 2:1 or higher in any engineering or science discipline, ideally in environmental science and sustainability, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering.

I completed an integrated master’s degree in Product Design Engineering in June 2021 before joining the Chivas Brother’s Operations Graduate Scheme in August. I am working within the Manufacturing side of the business based primarily at Kilmalid, Dumbarton. My current placement is within Engineering where I am completing a variety of projects for the teams within this department: Packaging Engineering, Project Engineering, Site Services and Control and Automation. Since joining I have also had the opportunity to visit the distilleries and warehouses in the Speyside region, attended the Institute of Brewing and Distilling annual dinner and been to the launch night for the Balmain x Chivas XV collection – the opportunities inside and outside of work on this graduate programme are unmatched.
